As far as how to know when bankruptcy is the right option for you, I think of in very simple terms and the answer to that is whenever you know that you have debts or a total amount of debt that is more than you can afford the payments for, is more than you could ever hope to pay off or at least an amount that would take you many years or a long time to ever pay off.
